soo keeping a blog is kinda a hassle. i mean, i like it. but i hate having to actually update it. or maybe i am just lazy.
anyway, i've been here for just over a month now. geez! that was fast. i guess i've pretty much settled into a nice little routine. school is not so fun... lots of group work. and people are such over achievers here, er i guess they just have really high standards. so i feel like such a dummy sometimes. it's been raining a lot, but i guess that's unusual for this time of year. all the local kids say it's not usually like this. i don't mind it too much tho, don't really see a whole lotta rain in cali- not like this at least. i think it's pretty & relaxing & i like to have my windows open when it's raining. thanks for the umbrella claud!!! it's been very handy.
i don't know if it's homesick or what but i'm really starting to miss some things. mexican food for one. i just really want a BCR sometimes ya know. & i'm not a huge fan of the communal bathroom situation. sometimes i just hold it in so that i don't have to walk all the way down the hall. but i think that's just me being lazy again. and i miss dryers. for your clothes. having to hang dry things all the time, especially when it's raining, is really inconvenient. and my clothes aren't soft. ooh i can't wait to be in a nice comfy bed again... all cozy & shizz. i'm too cheap to buy anything more than a sheet here. i miss my roommates haha but who doesn't miss 54th when you're not there. & i miss randly dandly even tho we talk all the time. i miss shopping at Nordy's... but i really can't complain about that because there's so many freakin' places to shop at here. i got these super cute wedges yesterday & they were on sale! sweet. miss Pinkberry & all its' knockoffs. i miss 4th meal hahaha. what i DON'T miss tho, is driving. the only time i've been in a car the whole time here is when we take taxis to go out. soo i guess i'll need a chauffeur when i get back cause i'm gonna forget how to drive. i don't really miss TV. i guess i can live without America's funniest home videos and Law&Order SVU after all. BUT, The Office i cannot live without. season 4 came out on DVD today btw and i have informed my mother on instructions for sending it to me.
i had Mooncake today. a girl in my group gave it to me as a gift (nice huh). it was... different, not bad. it's a chinese pasty that you eat during the mid-autumn festival, and it's made outta lotus seed & egg yolks & the outside is this thin flaky bread stuff with like chinese stuff & pictures baked on it. google it, i don't really know how to explain it. they have like soo many different kinds but i had a traditional one. history behind it is that they used to send secret messages thru the symbols on top & the person would have to cut them up & rearrange them like a puzzle. then eat it to destroy the message. i tried eating it all cause it's so small (like a ding dong) but couldn't even get halfway done cause it's so heavy. turns out you're only supposed to eat it in little wedges.
last week we went to the Tiger Brewery. the BEER FACTORY. & it was cool. i saw the ultimate beer wall. then after, you got to go to this little pub place they have at the brewery and drink all that you want. like a beer buffet. freakin legit. & that's all i have to say about that. i think i said it before but i really like the nitelife here, maybe more than at home. & we have pretty much become semi-professional at becoming VIPs. or making guys feel like Sugar Daddies so we can jack their champagne & then go dance with our friends. We've also become acquainted with this guy Cash who owns ones of the bars/clubs here, so that's become pretty beneficial.
I finally decided where i'm going for my break in 2 weeks! (like spring break... but a fall break?). THAiLAND. but of course the day we buy our tickets is the day when all this crazy shizz starts happening there. protests... "state of emergency"... state workers refusing to work... prime minister refusing to resign... sooo we'll see what happens with that! i reallly hope things get better because i really wanna go to Bangkok & Phuket & Phi Phi Island & play with elephants and all that good stuff. I'm also trying to decide what to do when the semester ends. my flight to go home rite now is december 2nd... but like everyone is staying to travel around. & well, my life motto is "everybody's doing it." i know that i want to spend some time in Vietnam & Bali. we'll see.
the girls here started calling me california barbie cause of my silvery steve madden heels. my favs! it's weird being the representative for the state of california haha. but someone said that they like America more now because of me so i guess i'm doing an alrite job at it. on another note- i had no idea how much US politics matter to the rest of the world. even if the elections weren't going on i think they would be just as interested. i did watch the speeches online last week tho. & sure, everyone knows what a big deal the elections are but i hope that everyone actually does something about it. aka VOTE. i'm not usually little miss politics (more about "little miss" soon) but i definitely got goosebumps when listening to the speeches & i'll definitely be sending in my absentee ballot. the elections are all i read/hear about here i can't even imagine what it's like at home rite now.
"little miss"- those shirts are like alll the rage here. everyone has one. you know which ones i'm talking about, little miss chatter box/flirty/dummyhead/trouble/naughty. i even seen boys with "little mister blahblahblah." it's cool. my sister has one that says "little miss sancha" which is only funny if you're mexican lol. anyway, i've been writing the whole time i've been in class... & class is now over. later alligator.
